Manufacturing Technology

This program provides hands-on training in the foundational technologies used in modern manufacturing, preparing students for careers as well-rounded machine operators and production technicians. Students develop practical skills in electricity, pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical systems, sensors, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and industrial robotics, with an emphasis on safe operation, troubleshooting, efficiency, and equipment performance. Using industry-standard equipment from leading manufacturers, students build, test, align, program, and troubleshoot electrical, fluid power, mechanical, automated, and robotic systems. The program also prepares students to earn nationally recognized NC3 certifications in areas including electricity, fluid power, mechanical systems, sensors, PLCs, and robotics.

Successful completion of PRD161 includes opportunity to sit for the following exams:

• NC3 Fundamentals of Fluid Power-Hydraulics: Provides students with comprehensive knowledge of hydraulic components’ construction and operation.  
• NC3 Fundamentals of Fluid Power- Pneumatics: Ensures competence in the safe operation and maintenance of one of the most common automation elements in industry. 
• NC3 Fundamentals of Electricity-AC: Equips students with the vital knowledge and skills necessary for handling AC electricity safely and effectively.  
• NC3 Fundamentals of Electricity-DC: Provides students with the essential knowledge and skills to handle DC electricity safely and effectively.

Successful completion of PRD162 includes opportunity to sit for the following exams:

• NC3 Fundamentals of Mechanical Systems: Covers the installation, use, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical drive components and systems.  

Successful completion of PRD163 includes opportunity to sit for the following exams:

• NC3 Fundamentals of Sensor Technology: Introduces participants to various sensors commonly used in industrial automation.  
• NC3 Fundamentals of Robotics: Introduces students to different types of robots and how to enhance productivity in industrial applications.  
• NC3 Fundamentals of PLC- Allen Bradley: Introduces students to high-end products from Rockwell Automation/Allen Bradley, allowing them to work directly with industrial control equipment.
• NC3 Fundamentals of PLC- Siemens: Introduces students to high-end products from Siemens, allowing them to work directly with industrial control equipment.
